A Colorful Camping Experience

Our camp director has come up with "A Colorful Camping Experience" as our camp theme. Here is what we're doing.

We're focusing on the value colors as well as colors in nature. We have created a journal on colored paper that has their schedule, assignments, secret sister, etc. in it. Our awesome camp director has altered the rules to include colors. For example, here are some of our "rules":

"Please don't make us RED with anger because you brought a radio, CD player or shorts."
"You'll be YELLOW with fear if you try to leave camp without approval of camp leaders"
"Don't make our nature critters BLUE. No chewing gum, it could be harmful to wildlife"
"We don't want to turn GREEN from the smells of campers,
so some tents will help out with the PURPLE potty patrol" (I'll explain later)
"NO "Wines" allowed. Burgundy, Red, White or ANY other kind.

Each tent will have a color, and they will create a flag according to their tent color. We have a camp song. (It's the "Spectrum" song - a Disney song)

"Red, yellow green red blue blue blue red purple green yellow orange red, red.   Red, yellow green red blue blue blue red purple green yellow orange red, red. Blend them up and what do you get? 3 chartreuse and aqua, mauve, beige and aquamarine and every color in between. Dum Da Dum De Dum Dum Dum Dum. Color has its harmony and each one is unique. And it's the same with
you and me, we're bright like the colors we seek. Red, yellow green red blue purple orange and red and yellow and blue, green."

She made up a name for each of the camp assignments.

Burgundy Breakfast Bunch (breakfast duty)
Brown Bag Brigade (lunch duty)
Silver Supper Servers (Dinner duty)
Red, White and Blue Crew (Flag ceremony duty)
Purple Potty Patrol (potty duty)
Periwinkle Prayer Service (night time devotional)

For our camp t-shirts we tye dyed t shirts. The leaders had a different design to differentiate between the girls.

For crafts we are doing nail art - using nail polish for a base and then acrylic paint and sewing pins or toothpicks to create the art on nails.  We are also making colorful bead bracelets.

For daily gifts we are giving the girls: A baggie of m&ms with "you're a colorful part of our young women!" on it.  A prescription (in empty film canisters) filled with skittles and the following:

"PRESCRIPTION FOR CAMP
FOR HEALTHY HAPPY LIVING AT CAMP
Dr: Camp Leaders Patient: Young Women
DOSAGE: Take as many as necessary to relieve the following symptoms. If symptoms persist see your Dr. immediately for help.
BLUE: Take a blue when you're feeling homesick, discouraged or blue. Then find a friend to be with till the day is through.
GREEN: If you're going on a hike, make sure to take along a pill. The green will give you pep to make it up the hill.
ORANGE: When faced with difficult decisions and you want to choose the right, take 2 orange for strength and courage, from morning till night.
YELLOW, RED, PURPLE: With other symptoms you might have, Yellow, Red & Purple are here to help you. Prayer, hard work & persistency is the best medicine it's true."

And, a rainbow candy cane with a poem about friends attached.

For awards, we are giving them out on tye dyed paper.

We're also trying to find colorful light sticks for our camp meeting.
