I just thought that I would pass along a great fireside that our Stake did in 1997. It was
so awesome.
They did a fireside called "The Savior Walk". This is where everyone goes on a
journey to find the Savior and in various rooms there are people portraying various people
who knew the Savior.
For example, they had a person who portrayed "John the Baptist" in the baptismal
font area and spoke to the youth about what it was like to baptize the Savior and to come
to know who He was.
Another person represented Mary, the mother of the Savior, and Mary, the sister of Martha.
That was the character that I was privileged to portray and it was such a wonderful
experience and it brought me so much closer to understanding more of the Savior and the
people who knew and loved Him.
The youth are divided into several groups and each group starts at a different room with a
different character in the Savior Walk. There were more characters such as Peter, a leper
the Savior healed, etc...
At the end, they all finish at a place that reminds them of the Garden of Gethsemane and
they see someone dressed as the Savior kneeling by a tree in prayer to represent the
atonement. There was a narrator at the last scene as well with Music playing in the
background. Some of the characters were outside and others inside. They had the Stake
Youth Committee come up with ideas for props, etc...
Afterwards, they had a small slide presentation or you could show a video of the Savior.
They also had a testimony meeting. They told everyone to be reverent as they went through
the experience. Each person that was assigned a part had to pray and fast and study to
know the person they were portraying. We all went through the evening in a joint fast that
started the night before as we had a dress rehearsal.
I don't have an actual outline, but I am sure with prayer and the Spirit, you could come
up with one of your own.
