I just received the theme from our Stake YW Pres and it's the same as many of you but
they've tacked on to it. "Let the Holy Spirit Guide Each of Us to Aspire
Higher".
We've (as a ward YW Presidency) decided to use hot air balloons for our decor over the
year and for our New Beginnings. We're going to paper Mache over balloons and soup cans
to make the shape of a hot air
balloon and use really strong wire or dowel to support them up from a little basket for
our centerpieces. Each will be a value color and the baskets will be stuffed with shredded
metallic Mylar. Today at our
first presidency meeting we were discussing invitations. Since we have MANY less actives
in our ward, I expressed to the counselors I would like them hand delivered so we can get
to know these girls on a more
personal level, and they and their parents will feed off our own excitement and want to
come to New Beginnings. We're going to use water
balloons (so they're smaller in size) and fill them with helium, use a string and attach
it to a little paper basket that will have the invitation in it. I'm a big party person
and I know the invitation sets the mood for the event. The past YW Presidency had been in
contact with these less actives only by phone and never were able to draw them out to
functions. Keep your fingers crossed for me that this idea works!!! :)
