Here's my skit you requested. Hope
you enjoy it! The song at the end can be found in an old YW songbook
called "A Song of the Heart". It can still be found in some LDS
bookstores, or you can just change the narration at the end and choose a
different song if you'd like.
Narration: Once Upon a Time in a land not too far away lived a young
woman who desired more than anything else to be the fairest
of all.....
Scene 1(begins with Suzy Shallow primping at her vanity admiring her
good looks, beautiful hair and wardrobe. She turns to her
fancy mirror on the wall and asks:)
Suzy Shallow:
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Whose the fairest young woman of all?
Mirror:
I'm sorry dear, it's still not you.
You've got a lot of work to do!
Suzy: (looking shocked)
But I've got the looks,
the clothes, the hair,
And gobs of money,
with plenty to spare (she looks more closely at her hand mirror)
My lipstick's wrong, that must be
it,
Or maybe it's this awful zit!
I'll change some things, and then you'll see
The fairest young woman will be me!
Mirror: To be the fairest takes much more
Than looks and style and money galore
So Right has what it really takes
Just look and see as she awakes...
(The Mirror escorts Suzy to look around the wall to see So Right
sleeping in her beautiful bed. The Seven Values enter whistling "Whistle
While You Work", and sit around So Right on her bed. She awakens...)
So Right: Another day and you're all here
My special friends that are so dear
You've helped me in so many ways
To become the girl I am today
(Each of the Seven Values will stand when it is their turn and recite
the meaning of their value)
Faith white):
By having Faith you'll understand
You're part of God's Eternal Plan
Which center is in Jesus Christ
He'll show you how to choose the right
Divine Nature blue):
You have inherited qualities divine
That help to make your spirit shine
Strive to develop them day by day
So others may want to know the way
Individual Worth red):
Each one has been given a mission so fine
Maybe it's different from yours and mine
Remember each soul is great in the sight.
Of God, each having their own special light
Knowledge green):
As long as we live we always should yearn
To seek for knowledge and chances to learn
By study and faith our testimonies will grow
There's so much in this world for us to know!
Choice & Accountability orange):
Choose to serve the Lord each day
This really is the only way
Choosing good over evil is best you see
In choices there comes responsibility!
Good Works yellow):
By nurturing others you're building the kingdom
And glorifying your Father in Heaven
Shine your light so that others may see
Your good works and service, an example you'll be!
Integrity purple):
Integrity means that your actions reflect
What you've been taught to be correct
Have moral courage and never lose sight
That wrong is wrong, and right is rignt!
So Right: With each of you I can't go wrong
Your values help me remain strong
By living each one I never need fear
As a daughter of God my purpose is clear!
(At this time return to mirror and Suzy...)
Mirror: Now can you see that your outer shell
Does not reflect the story you'll tell?
Maybe now you can begin
To see that true beauty comes from within!
Suzy: Yes, now I see what life's all about
My clothes, hair and looks don't give me clout
By living these Values how special I'll be
Not the fairest of ALL, but my own unique ME!
( So Right and The Seven Values will walk over to Suzy and the Mirror
and stand together while Narrator reads closing of story)
Narrator: And so that is the way this story goes...with the help of the
Seven Values, Suzy can become a beautiful daughter of God.
Every Young Woman has her own "Once Upon a Time", the story of her
life...The choices that we make will tell what that story will be.
(All Young Women will come forward and sing the song "My Once Upon a
Time")
