Nurse: Doctor, we have some patients that need to be seen today as soon as possible.
Doctor: Check their vital signs Nurse and send them in to see me one at a time.
The nurse checks their eyes and takes their temperature with a thermometer, then takes
their blood pressure of both patients.
Nurse: My, my, *sigh*
The patient looks at the nurse with a nervous, guilty look. The Nurse then puts the second
patient on the scale of Personal Growth and Development. And shakes her head
disapprovingly.
Nurse: Your are dangerously low. No wonder you are not feeling well today. Please have a
seat and the doctor will be in to speak to you shortly.
The nurse leaves and the two patients sit looking ill and pitiful, when the doctor enters
the room of the second patient first.
Doctor : I hear you are not feeling well. Let's see what we can do to get you back on the
mend.
The doctor uses his stethoscope to listen to her heart and lungs on her back. He then
glances at the chart, then to the patient.
Doctor: It appears that you have not been keeping a balanced, healthy, daily diet. Are you
having daily prayer? Scripture study? Keeping a journal? Attending church regularly?
Patient 2 nods, shakes her head no and makes an "iffy" with her hand shaking
back and forth and a guilty look on her face when asked the various questions by the
doctor.
Doctor: The spirit must be fed daily. Your levels are dangerously low.
Patient 2: So I've been told.
Doctor: I'll have my Dietician come in and explain the diet you need to follow to improve
your spiritual health.
Dietician comes up and gives talk on the Standards of Personal Worthiness. When finished,
the doctor goes to the other patient, using the stethoscope to listen, then checks the
chart.
Doctor: Your your pressure reading is 6 over 14. Do you know what that means?
The patient squirms in her seat and mumbles something about Personal Progress.
Doctor: You have completed only 6 of your required 14 Personal Progress goals in Mia Maid
1. We need to get that blood pumping. If you are not progressing, it slows everything
down.
Patient 1: I've been so busy with school and my friends and all. Then I lost my book until
Mom made me clean my room. It's easy to forget to do it. I can get in all done in a few
weeks -usually.
Doctor: But you can't do much if you are not energized. You need to be consistent. When
you wait until the last minute, you lose many of the blessing of fitness you get from
planning and goal setting. I'll have my Fitness Instructor teach you the importance of
keeping fit through Personal Progress.
The Fitness Instructor talks on the Personal Progress Program. When she finishes, the
doctor has both patients sit beside each other.
Doctor: Both of you are in great need of healing inside. I will have my Critical Care
Nurse speak with you regarding 7 Values that when internalized, can put you on the path to
recovery.
The Critical Care Nurse speaks on the 7 Values for the YW and their importance. When she
finishes speaking, the doctor returns. She writes a RX for both patients and hands them to
the patients.
Doctor: These prescriptions are you your Vitamin Bee's. They come from the best
pharmaceutical company in the world...words from a Living Prophet. I will have the
pharmacist explain.
The Pharmacist (Member of the Bishopric) reviews the Prophets message. HE will hand the
girls some RX bottles labeled with some of the Prophet's B's (Be True, Be Humble, etc). HE
sends the patients back home with their medicines. The Doctor stands back up and speaks to
the audience.
Doctor: The YW Program is an inspired program of our Heavenly Father's. It is designed to
bring the YW unto Christ by helping them become Spiritually Fit to face the challenges
they will encounter during this mortal existence. Many times it is only the physical body
we see and focus on. While our bodies are the temples used to house our spirits, we need
to able to look inside to make sure we are providing the essential care needed to allow
our spirits to grow and develop.
It is the sincere desire of the YW Presidency to help these YW reach their peak level of
spiritual fitness and become the Young Woman Heavenly Father wants her to be. But we
cannot do it alone. The process requires the commitment of the Young Woman, the YW Leaders
and the parents. We are thrilled to have you here tonight to learn about this program-not
just the new Beehives, but the Mia Maid and Laurel parents too. We want to encourage to
you stay interested in the program. When any one of the areas weakens - the young woman,
the YW leaders, and the parents - the chance of the young woman finishing the program and
reaching the goal of staying Spiritually Fit diminishes.
Personal Progress will help develop a strong spirit and is the "heart" of the YW
program. The Personal Standards of Worthiness is the "Spiritual Diet" necessary
to grow and develop a relationship with the Savior. The program's Values - Faith, Divine
Nature, Individual Wroth, Knowledge, Choice & Accountability, Good Works and Integrity
- are the "educational foundations" that keep us focused on the Plan of
Salvation and our ultimate return to our Father in Heaven.
These young women were sent to this earth to excel. It is our hope and prayer that we all
remember to take the opportunity to see our young women from the perspective that God does
- from the inside out.
