Our theme for the year has been the same as the General YW's theme:
"Let the Holy Spirit Guide." We have been giving out Dove chocolates whenever a
girl completes a personal progress value experience. Several mini lessons have been
done on the theme and the girls learned and performed the hymn. Later this month,
the girls will be beginning the first of 3 activities making their own ceramic dove
to display at Evening of Excellence.
For the Evening, we will be having the PARENTS do the presentation rather than the YW.
They have been told to be including this in their Family Home Evenings etc and to be
watching for times when their daughter does something to invite the Spirit or when the
girl has shared with them some experience where she felt the Spirit.
One parent will speak, the other parent will write a letter as a keepsake. For those with
a single parent, that one parent can do both. We have sent a letter to the parents warning
them of this and they'll receive a couple of reminders between now and November. Hopefully
it will be a night where the girls and their parents will have their relationship
strengthened....I sure hope. Its going to be A LOT of work to get every single parent to
participate but we are sure we can do it.....
