Flip Flops

Contributed by: Wpstelly@aol.com

How about flip flops with strips of material in the YW Value colors looped around the plastic top part?  In this part of the country, the "new fad" is  to take $1 flip flops and add strips of (usually one color) material.   The strips are about a finger's width wide (no less than 1/2 inch I'd say) and 6   to 8 inches long (experiment for your best look).  Fold in half lengthwise.   Place the slip flop in front of you--toe side away from you, heel close to   your body.  Starting from the heel end, pass the folded loop end of the strip OVER the plastic top, Under the far side and bring it back toward you--it will be under the rest of the material.  Open the loop and pass the two ends through--tighten toward the plastic thong portion.  Fill up the entire top of the flip flop with the material.  It really dresses the shoes up and they look cute.  You could have each girl bring their own flip flops and ya'll can provide the material strips.  They could do all the colors on one pair, or they could pick their favorite value color and do it in solids.

Update - Okay--My oldest says that they actually tie the strips in a square knot on  the plastic portion so that the ends can go in either direction and look  "frilly and full."
