Here is the new line for the new "revised" YW theme.  It was in the Church News, week ending October 27th.  The latter part of the theme will read:  "We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation."

Just in case anyone else is working on this as a theme, I thought I shared with you what I've come up with so far. All of this is, of course, a work in progress, so it is subject to change. With all the talk of major changes in the programs, who knows if this will actually be workable when next year rolls around. Just FYI, we have been trying to have our YW give short 2-3 minute talks during opening exercises... this is where we will focus on this theme.

YW Theme 2002
_To Strengthen Home and Family_

I've gone through A Proclamation to the World as a guide, defining these sub-topics within it. I began with New Beginnings as our introduction of the theme, then started at the first paragraph of the Proclamation in February, working through it one paragraph at a time, finishing in October.  November is Young Women in Excellence month, where the Young Women can present what they've learned in our study of the Proclamation, and   hopefully, they will be more thankful than ever for their families.  December can be a month of making promises to stay true to what we've learned as our gifts to the Savior.

These will be very special and worthwhile topics for our youth talks in opening exercises. We will invite mothers to give our Fast Sunday introduction to the topic, reading that particular part from the Proclamation, and adding her own testimony.

January: New Beginnings - A Family is Forever - a perfect kickoff to our new theme!
February: The Family is Central in God's Plan - this gospel is all about joining our families together for eternity
March: My Nature is Divine - We are created in the image of God, male and female, before our births
April: We Accepted the Plan - We were told what would be expected of us, and we agreed to it
May: The First Commandment - The sacred power of procreation is a command, and it is for only a husband and wife to use
June: The Sanctity of Life - The means by which mortal life is created [is] divinely appointed by God.
July: Children are an Heritage of the Lord - We have sacred responsibilities to our children, and will be held accountable for them
August: The Family is Ordained of God - Marriage is essential, fathers preside, mothers nurture, and both are obligated to help one another as equal partners
September: We Are Accountable Before God - Prophets warn that the breakdown of the family will bring calamities to our world
October: A Call to Speak Out - Our Prophet asks us to speak out to promote measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family
November: A Proclamation to the World - An overview of the entire Proclamation; view the prophet's address on video
December: My Promises as Gifts to God - Ask our YW to think seriously about all they have learned and to promise themselves, their Heavenly Father, the family of their birth, and the family they may someday have, that they will strive to give them an eternal family by remaining true to the principles outlined in the Proclamation to the World.

What if you made some kind of height chart, that children use to measure their growth, only you could have acts of service, integrity, kindness, etc. Whenever the girls did something along those lines, you could mark the chart. It could be a goal of the girls to see how much taller they could become by the end of the year.

"Strengthen Home and Family". It is the line that they are adding to the YW theme.

So, I am going to expand on this for my personal progress next year, I always have some kind of monthly theme to go along with the value. But since we are going to be adding the Six Be's in our new pamphlet, I decided to add that into the monthly themes too.

Jan - NB
Feb - I will strengthen Home and Family by being Grateful
Mar - I will strengthen Home and Family by being Smart
Apr - I will strengthen Home and Family by being Clean

.....Dec I will strengthen Home and Family by Living Worthy to go the temple. I always think it is good to end with a temple activity. We live just 10 minutes from the Arizona (Mesa) Temple. They have a program every night starting after Thanksgiving, thru Dec. I love to see the lights and listen to the music.

Additional Info:

I am just using the six be's, one a month.
